The salary range for this position is CAD $45.46 - $65.35 / hour
Job Summary

We are currently looking to fill a Full Time opportunity for a Leader,South Asian Health Institute located in Surrey BC. 

 

In this role you will collaborate with Population and Public Health (PPH) Leadership as well as clinical program/service leaders to communicate South Asian health needs and health outcomes to ensure they are incorporated into care and program requirements and provide guidance in the development, implementation and modifications of clinical programs to ensure best practices and South Asian perspectives are incorporated.

Detailed Overview

Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families:

The Leader, South Asian Health Institute (SAHI), works in collaboration with the Director, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) & Language Services, and Medical Director for SAHI to strategically plan and align programs and services that aim to improve health and health outcomes of the South Asian community within Fraser Health (FH). Provides leadership and supervision to assigned staff to ensure safe, competent and quality service provided.

Leads the identification and building of partnerships in the community, and is accountable for developing, planning, and evaluating health promotion and education strategies in the community. Works in collaboration with Population and Public Health (PPH) Leadership and clinical programs in identifying internal partnerships and initiatives that ensure a South Asian perspective is incorporated in care and program delivery. Provides support for clinical programs through evidence-based consults around service delivery and systems improvement, facilitating community engagement, and developing and implementing cross-program initiatives.


Responsibilities

  1. Leads targeted health promotion, planning, implementation, and evaluation of services across FH to improve the health and health outcomes of the South Asian population.
  2. In collaboration with PPH Leadership and clinical program/service leaders, communicates South Asian health needs and health outcomes to ensure they are incorporated into care and program requirements. Provides guidance in the development, implementation and modifications of clinical programs to ensure best practices and South Asian perspectives are incorporated.
  3. Leads development of guiding frameworks that integrate a South Asian cultural lens into programs and services. Recommends policy and practice changes to ensure a systems perspective that links program needs with a system-wide framework. Advances policies through organizational review and approval processes.
  4. In collaboration with the Director, develops effective measurement systems that ensure project deliverables and timelines are achieved within existing budgets.
  5. In conjunction with the Director, acts as the point of contact and representative for FH South Asian Health related programs at various meetings, committees and working groups.
  6. Provides leadership to support the well-being and safety of staff through effective feedback, retention strategies and work practices that support work/life balance and encourage personal and professional development.
  7. Screens, interviews and recruits staff to ensure program remains operational and effective. Conducts performance reviews with assigned staff. Investigates work and staff issues, and initiates disciplinary action (up to and including terminations) when required.
  8. In conjunction with the Director, monitors operational expenditures and submits proposals/requests for additional funding.
  9. Supports knowledge mobilization of emerging data and research evidence into program planning and decision-making.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

A Master's level of education in a field related to health care management, public health or other related field, supplemented with a minimum seven (7) years experience within a large complex health care environment with additional experience in community development/engagement and in building/managing teams; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Professional/Technical Capabilities:

  • Knowledge of social determinants of health and their impact on health outcomes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of community development process and working knowledge of marketing strategies, and communication, education and behaviour theories.
  • Demonstrated leadership in roles to lead and move forward complex organizational change issues across health service programs to support broad transformational objectives.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities to incorporate program/site needs within the broader context of the health delivery system and multiple program requirements.
  • Sound working knowledge of planning concepts related to service delivery quality and strategic initiatives.
